St Breaca Breage

St Breaca Church, Breage

The church was built of granite in the 15th century.  It has two aisles separated from the nave by granite arcades of standard design. On the north wall are five medieval wall paintings: four saints are portrayed, Ambrose, Christopher, Corentine and Hilary.  The painting of The Warning to The Sabbath Breakers is one of the finest examples in the country of a Sunday Christ.

Breaking News - St Breaca Church has successfully secured a grant of £41000 from the Government's Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund to address urgent roof repairs that will ensure it is weathertight, safe and open for use. It is one of 502 grants from a total funding package of £30million that have been announced for urgent roof repairs for places of worship across the UK by the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The Fund is administered by the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) on behalf of the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS). More details are available at www.lpowroof.org.uk
